Award of Construction Recommended to Board

On Wednesday, July 21, Central Community School System administration presented its recommendation to the School Board for the award of the Building Construction Package. Seven bids were received on July 15 at 3:30pm. The bids were very close in range and the School System is very pleased with both the number and quality of bids received.

Low bidders were as follows:

  • For the base bid (core capacity of 1,200 students & classroom capacity of 900 students for both the New Intermediate & New Middle School) - The Lemoine Co. was low with a bid of $31,440,000, followed by MAPP Construction at $31,492,000 (a difference of $52,000 / or 0.17%)
  • For the base bid + Alternate No. 1 (6 additional classrooms at each school to increase capacity from 900 to 1,050 students each) - The Lemoine Co. was low with a bid of $32,460,000, followed by MAPP Construction at $32,470,000 (a difference of $10,000 / or 0.03%)
  • For the base bid + Alternate No. 1 + Alternate No. 2 (6 additional classrooms at each school to increase capacity from 1,050 to 1,200 students each) - MAPP Construction was low with a bid of $33,448,000, followed by the Lemoine Co. at $33,505,000 (a difference of $57,000 / or 0.17%)

It was the recommendation of both PBK (architect) and the School System to accept the bid of MAPP Construction in the amount of $33,448,000 for the base contract plus Alternates 1 + 2. This will enable the School System to construct both the New Intermediate School and the New MIddle School to their designed capacity of 1,200 students each - totaling 2,400 students for grades 3 through 8 (to address projected enrollment figures).
